Velina Hasu Houston is the only American playwright to amass a body of work that explores the U.S.-Japan relationship through a bilateral, global view of identity.

She has written more than 30 plays as well as opera, musical theatre, poetry, essays, a novel and works for film and television.

Her work is produced around the world and nationwide as well as studied globally at universities in Japan, China, Egypt, India, Denmark, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Canada, the United States, among other nations.
