The Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute is commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the signing of Executive Order 9066, the order that unjustifiably removed and incarcerated over 120,000 Japanese and Japanese Americans from their homes, jobs, businesses, and possessions in World War II, with our annual Day of Remembrance event happening on February 25th, 2017 from 2PM to 4PM.

This year’s theme will be centered around Tule Lake and we will be showing Konrad Aderer’s film, Resistance at Tule Lake.

We will have a panel discussion with former Tule Lake incarcerees, George Nakano, Nancy Oda, Yukio Kawaratani, and Bill Nishimura.

Soji Kashiwagi and Kurt Ikeda will also be performing spoken word pieces.
