2013 / Nisei Week Closing / Taiko group from Japan to perform, Aug 18, 3:45 pm

A taiko group from Ehime Prefecture, Japan, will participate in the Ondo and Closing Ceremony of the 2013 Nisei Week Japanese Festival on Sunday, August 18 at 3:45 pm in Little Tokyo.

Kijo Daiko from Matsuno Town will be performing in collaboration with the Taiko Center of Los Angeles. Hiroyuki Hayashida, renowned taiko player in Japan, will also perform in the pre-ondo program.

Taiko Center of Los Angeles performed with Kijo Daiko in Ehime in 2010 during the center’s tour in Japan.

The performance will take place on First Street in front of the Miyako Hotel from 3:45 pm, followed by the ondo dance with live music performed by Minyo Station.

Ondo and the Closing Ceremony is the last event of the two-week 73rd Nisei Week Japanese Festival.
