Children’s Oshogatsu Workshop
Friday, December 27, 10 am – 3 pm
Japanese American Cultural and Community Center
Little Tokyo, Los Angeles
By sharing traditions with our children, we can pass on not only the rituals but also the spirit of the holidays for the new generation.
Engage your child in this one-day Oshogatsu workshop, where children will participate in hands-on craft activities and demonstrations led by local artists and community members to create lasting memories and foster cultural values that your child will cherish for years to come.
This one-day workshop focuses on the traditions and symbols surrounding Oshogatsu or Japanese New Year. Children can learn about this special holiday celebration from local community artists and through hands-on craft activities.
This year, we are pleased to announce that Kodama Taiko will return to the JACCC to lead a special mochitsuki demonstration and workshop.
We will also feature a new workshop by Johnny Mori who will lead a Taiko workshop, and Artistic Director, Hirokazu Kosaka who will lead a calligraphy workshop.
Workshops are designed for children ages 7-12. Registration is limited to 30 participants, and pre-registration is required. Space will be filled on a first come first served basis.
