The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles, presents “Summer Camp for Teens: Discover Little Tokyo” for learning Japanese language from July 21–25 2014.
The classes will be held from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm every day of the week of July 21-25 at the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, 244 South San Pedro Street, CA 90012.
This summer camp is designed for 14-18 years old with no prior experience in learning Japanese language.
In the class, students will: 1) Play games to learn phrases; 2) Say Japanese greetings and expressions; 3) Learn Japanese pronunciation; 4) Write Katakana characters; 4) Count in Japanese; 5) Read real signs and menus in Japanese, 6) Make a fun presentation about their favorite part of Japanese culture
During the Field Trips in Little Tokyo, students will: 1) Take an exciting walking tour with Japanese-American National Museum staff; 2) Learn about Japanese and Japanese American history and modern culture; 3) Interview native Japanese speakers at stores and restaurants; 4) Find and read Japanese letters and words used at stores and restaurants
Total hours of learning are 15 hours. Fees are $180sper person including class materials. Any Japanese proficiencies are not required. Class size is 12 people. Minimum of 4 people are required.
