Dr. David A. Hall: Encyclopedia of Japanese Martial Arts
In his new book Dr. David A. Hall, one of today’s foremost authorities on the subject, offers fascinating information about every aspect of Japanese combative arts.
Combining years of hands-on experience in a wide variety of martial traditions, with an academic and religious background, Dr. Hall has produced an authoritative and entertaining work that shows how Japan’s warrior culture is “a rich tapestry of historical, social, religious and martial elements.”
Martial arts demonstrations included. This will be Dr. Hall’s only speaking engagement in the area.
David A. Hall studied martial arts in Japan and continues to train and teach.
Hall is also an ordained Buddhist priest, and received a Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies/Military History from UC Berkeley. He is the author of many published papers on both martial arts and Buddhist studies, and is currently a professor at Montgomery College in Maryland.
