The 50th anniversary ceremony of Japanese prefecture association in the Greater Los Angeles area was held at Quite Cannon event place in Montebello on Sep. 14, 2014.
Nanka Kenjinkai Kyogikai (Japanese Prefectural Association of Southern California is a federation of various kenjinkai – the associations of persons sharing an interest in things related to a particular prefecture in Japan.
As of 2014, the NKK consists of 41 prefecture-associations in the Greater Los Angeles Area. There are 47 prefectures in Japan.
The NKK was established in 1964 with a purpose of promoting goodwill between the Unite States and Japan, and to encourage appreciation of the cultural heritage of the various Japanese prefectures.
To further this purpose, the NKK provides networking opportunities for persons interest in Japanese cultural heritage. The NKK also sponsors events and shows of Japanese culture representative of the various prefectures, and provides scholarships to young men and women who are studying Japanese culture since 1976.
