2017 / Zenshuji Temple in Little Tokyo / Live Noh stage, Jan. 16

Forwarded for Zesnhuji Temple in Little Tokyo

We are happy to announce that we are starting a new year with new events;

1)  There will be a dedication ceremony of Noh and Tsuzumi to pray for disaster victims and reconstruction in Japan on Monday, January 16th, 2017.

It is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Normally Zenshuji closes on a holiday but we are open this day specially to hold the ceremony.

Noh is a traditional Japanese theatre art with dance and music, which is very ceremonial and minimalistic.

Tsuzumi is a Japanese hand drum which is often played in Japanese traditional music.

Free admission, donation only.

This is a 14-Sunday class instructed by Shorinji Kempo master, Ted Uekuma.

He is also a Zazenkai member and a Zenshuji Board. Based on the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha, the goal of the class is to improve and maintain health and spiritual well-being using the Shorinji Kempo self-defense philosophy that the body and mind are one.

Students will be instructed 1) Physical exercise, 2) Spiritual Exercise, 3) Relaxation. This is easy, slow aerobics for all ages, young & seniors.

Class fee is $60 for Non-member, $40 for Temple-member or pay what you can. Please register by emailing to webmaster@zenshuji.org  or you can just reply to this email.
