Waza to Kokoro: Hands and Heart

This week marks the last opportunity to apply for the beginner-level of the “Waza to Kokoro: Hands and Heart” professional training seminar, which takes place Sept. 20-27 at the Portland Japanese Garden and offsite venues.

You have until March 31 to take advantage of this rare opportunity to learn drawing and design, stone setting, bamboo fence construction, pruning, and other techniques in an immersive, hands-on environment framed eloquently in the culture and philosophy of tea.

The course is taught by visiting instructors from Japan, Garden staff, and other visiting lecturers.

Deadlines for Application
Beginner-level (Sept. 20-27): March 31, 2018
Intermediate-level (July 19-30): Application has passed, but inquiries are still being accepted.

This year, we are offering significant scholarships to professionals from public gardens, with smaller scholarships also available to landscape professionals and students. The course is eligible for continuing education or professional development credits.
