Mr. Shingo Honda was a prolific artist in painting and sculpture.
He was born in Nagaoka City in Niigata Prefecture in 1944. From 1964 to 1968, he studied at Tama Fine Art College in Tokyo.
From 1984 to 2006, he lived in the Art District near Little Tokyo in Downtown Los Angeles. During this period, he became a Zen priest of Soto Mission.
From 2006, he was living in Big Island in Hawaii, and on Dec. 4, 2019, he was killed near his home in Hawaii. He was 75-year-old.
The suspect of the murder case was arrested and held in jail. Honda’s wife Lynn Farr was not involved in the incident.
