Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, in light of the extraordinary circumstances surrounding COVID-19, Portland Japanese Garden and all its programming has closed temporarily.

And until we are able to re-open our gates, we have made the painful and unprecedented decision to temporarily lay off the majority of our staff.

We have retained a very small number of staff to manage through this crisis as well as a few gardeners to tend to maintenance of the physical Garden. This email is being forwarded to one of these staff members.

Now we ask for your patience in these days ahead. We are still working through what the impacts of this closure and event cancellations will mean for our community. We will get you answers in time. But in the short term, we hope you understand if our response is slower than usual.

The organization’s leadership will be monitoring conditions daily, and hope that soon we will be able to open to the public again.

Thank you for your continued support and may you and your families be safe and healthy.
