On the 75th Anniversary of the Atomic Bombs
Wednesday, August 5th, 2020 at 3:45 pm (PDT)

On Wednesday, August 5th, the Nature-Friendly Spiritual Group, Shinto Shrine of Shusse Inari in America, will hold a慰霊祭 (Irei-sai) Memorial Service and Peace Prayer to reconfirm our commitment to world peace and to pray for the spirits of those who lost their lives on the 75th anniversary of the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima (August 6th, 1945) and Nagasaki (August 9th, 1945).

In Hiroshima and Nagasaki, 150,000 people, including children, were killed in the initial attack. By the end of the year, thousands more had died from the bomb’s effects, including Americans, Australians, Dutch, Chinese, Koreans and other nationalities. Even those who survived suffered greatly with health issues caused by radiation and by passing on genetic damage to the next generation.

We will hold our service on the same day that the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima 75 years ago, then observe one minute of silent prayer at 4:15pm (8:15am in Japan), the exact time the bomb fell. This service’s Closing Talk will be open to the public.

Let us pray for peace for the spirits who died from the atomic bombs and seek world peace together!
