On January 14, 2011, High Speed Rail Seminar in California was held at Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza, Downtown Los Angeles.
Approximately 400 people attended the afternoon event to hear from distinguished speakers from the U.S. and Japan, such as Mr. Norman Y. Mineta, the former U.S. Secretary of Transportation and Mr. Masafumi Shukuri, Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan.
The event brought together the U.S. and Japan to discuss the future of high speed rail (HSR) in California. U.S. speakers mentioned the importance of high speed rail and its potential economic benefits in California.
And, Japan's HSR operators and railcar manufacturers highlighted their expertise in HSR, including developments around the station, anti-earthquake technology, and the contribution to the U.S. economy through further job creation.
The event also included an exhibition featuring recent developments of Japanese high speed rail technologies.
