Lightning Over the Beyond
Hikari, a 20-year-old man, lost his eyesight at a young age and, although successful surgery restored his vision, he is unable to perceive colors. Guided by the photographs of Shomei Tomatsu, a renowned photographer representing post-war Japan, Hikari travels to Nagasaki.
There, he is invited by a self-proclaimed revolutionary, Tomobe, to participate in the production of a documentary film, leading Hikari to trace the remnants of war in Nagasaki and Okinawa. Along the way, encounters with resilient individuals like Amy, raised hearing war stories from her grandmother, and Itosu, who deeply loves Okinawa and his family, lead to a significant shift in Hikari’s life.
