2012, Mar 11: Japanese community to commemorate victims of 2011 Japan disaster
A Los Angeles resident who survived the March 11 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011, TV news anchor who visited the disaster region, and Southern Californians who went to Tohoku as volunteers will gather in Downtown Los Angeles to share their experiences and commemorate victims of the disaster on March 11 at 3:00 pm.
An event called Love to Nippon is a community-wide tribute in Los Angeles for loved-ones lost, and for those still suffering from the March 11 earthquake in 2011.
This memorial event will be a peaceful commemoration of the disaster where attendees will be encouraged to place flowers in loving tribute for the victims, survivors, families and friends of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in 2011.
Masako Unoura-Tanaka, a survivor of the tsunami, and Douglas Erber, president of the Japan America Society of Southern California, along with many supporting community members will introduce the Love to Nippon memorial event.
Love to Nippon will include a special presentation and video screening about the current situation in the devastated region of Tohoku, shared experiences and moving musical tribute.
Southern Californians who have volunteered or help as volunteers in Tohoku after the March 11 disaster will share their experiences, and participants will share the knowledge and lessons learned from the disaster and recovery process.
