A little volcanic island Miyakejima is located in the Pacific south of Tokyo. “WANKO” is based on a true story of Miyakejima’s volcanic eruption on August 2008.
The Noyama family runs a small inn Taiyo on Miyakejima island. The Noyamas had to evacuate Miyakejima to Tokyo after the eruption.
