Itajime Shibori is an ancient Japanese tye-dyeing technique. In its purest form, fabric is folded in an accordion style and bound between two pieces of wood with string or clamps.
Today, many shape cut from acrylic and other materials are used to create an endless number of patterns that can be created using this technique.
Setsuko Hayashi will be leading students through the steps of itajime shibori to create pattern on silk pillow.
The workshop will be on September 22, starting at 1:00 pm in the JCI Nisei Veteran Hall.
$10 fee per person. To register to the workshop, call the JCI office at (310) 324-6611, or email firstname.lastname@example.org Space is limited.
