Assistance League Miwa Berg Exhibition

 

Assistance League of Long Beach is hosting an exhibition for Japan-born ceramic artist Reiko Niwa Berg from Oct. 7 – Nov. 27 at its Philanthropic Center, located at 6220 East Spring Street, Long Beach, CA 90825.

Exhibition hours are Monday to Thursday, 8am – 5 pm and Friday, 8 am – 2:30pm or by appointment by calling Faye Alperin at (562) 659-0051.

A wine and cheese reception to meet the artist will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13, 3 -5pm. Both the exhibition and reception are free and the public is invited.

Ms. Berg came to the United States to attend college and has focused on ceramics for the last ten years. Her work has been exhibited at the American Museum of Ceramic Art, Tag Gallery in Santa Monica, Association of Clay and Glass Artists in Brea, and she now has a piece in the Kellogg University Art Gallery at Cal Poly Pomona.

Assistance League of Long Beach is a nonprofit organization with over 900 volunteers. One of its philanthropic programs, Howard Collection, focuses on Japanese and Chinese art, culture and history. The league has more than 50 volunteers who act as docents explaining the Asian culture and arts for visiting groups.

Ms. Berg will donate a portion of the exhibition sales to the Assistance League of Long Beach.
