The forum is open to the public. Everybody is welcome regardless nationality.
In this meeting, officials from the Foreign Ministry of Japan will attend and explain about “Japan House” project in Los Angeles.
The Japanese government recently announced the creation of “Japan House” in Los Angeles to promote positive relations and understanding of Japanese culture.
“Japan House” will be a center for Japan to enrich public information and cultural activities and will be expanded to the rest of the world. Los Angeles was chosen as the only location in the U.S. along with London and Sao Paulo.
The Japanese government also announced that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will begin his official visit to the U.S. in late April. The “Forum to promote Japan House” is planned to coincide with Japanese prime minister’s visit.
For over 100 years, the Japanese community in Los Angeles as well as people of Los Angeles have worked tirelessly to enhance friendly relations between the U.S. and Japan.
The announcement of the establishment of Japan House Los Angeles is indeed an exciting opportunity as it will serve as a stage to showcase all things related to Japan and Japanese culture.
The objectives of the public forum to be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 are as follows:
1) To learn firsthand about Japan House from a representative of the Japanese government and to share that knowledge with as many people as possible;
2) To provide a chance for people of Los Angeles to engage in an exchange of ideas related to the Japan House project;
3) To gather requests and ideas presented by the people of Los Angeles and
4) To compile the above as a proposal and submit to Prime Minister Abe.
This forum shall be an effective opportunity for all those who are involved with the promotion of Japanese culture as well as for those individuals and organizations who will contribute to, and benefit from, the establishment of the Japan House in Los Angeles.
