2015 / “FandangObon” & the Mottainai “Eco” Fest at JACCC, Oct. 25

Great Leap, the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, and Quetzal Flores present “FandangObon” & the Mottainai “Eco” Fest on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm at the JACCC Noguchi Plaza, 244 South San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

“FandangObon” is the sharing of participatory music and dance traditions: Fandango of Vera Cruz, Mexico, which draws from Africa, Indian and Mexican roots, a Japanese Buddhist tradition in remembrance of ancestors, and African dances from Guinea and Nigerian Yoruban traditions.

Partnering with Quetzal Flores and Martha Gonzalez from the Mexican band, Quetzal, the communities of Boyle Heights, Sustainable Little Tokyo, LA Commons located in Leimert Park, and the African American community.

This year, Nobuko Miyamoto and Quetzal Flores will be joined by special guests Le Ballet Dembaya and Francis and Omowale Awe.
