2019: Los Angeles: Okinawa Association begins fund drive for the restoration of the Shuri Castle

Shuri Castle, a World Heritage Site landmark, was ravaged by fire during the early morning hours of October 31. The cause of the fire is not known at this time. The Okinawan people throughout the diaspora read the reports in shock and horror and immediately took to social media to express their heartfelt condolences and share their personal memories of this majestic symbol of Okinawa.
