2021 / Holiday Tea at Shoseian in Glendale, California, Dec. 19

The Friends of Shoseisan presents “Holiday Tea & Japan Culture Day” on Sunday, Dec. 19, from 10am through 3pm at Shoseian “Whispering Pine” Teahouse in Brand Park 1601, West Mountain Street, Glendale, CA 91201.

Limited seating for tea – $20 donation per person. RSVP by Dec. 15 required at the website GenladeTeaHouse.org and selecting the tea seating you will attend & # of tickets.

Masks will be required inside the Tea House. The Friends of Shoseian is a non-profit IRC Section 501 (c)(3) organization. Contributions can be tax deductible under IRC Section 170.

10:00 -10:30am – Opening Koto Performance by Saeko Kujiraoka & Sakura Jimenez

10:30 – 11:30am – Urasenke Tea Ceremony : 1st seating by Nakada Shachu

11:30am – 12:00pm – Katori Shinto Ryu – “Old School” Martial Arts Demo by Masashi Odate-sensei & students

12:00 – 12:30pm – Taiko Drum music by DJ “Yui Sensational”

12:30 – 1:30pm – Urasenke Tea Ceremony: 2nd Seating by Nakada Shachu

1:30 – 2:00pm – Japanese Music Performance by DJ “Yui Sensational”

2:00 – 3:00pm – Urasenke Tea Ceremony: 3rd Seating by Nakada Shachu

The Friends of Shoseian was founded to maintain and preserve the beauty and serenity of the Shoseian Teahouse and the Japanese Friendship Garden in Glendale, California, for future generations to enjoy. The mission is to promote the Teahouse and Garden through various events, ceremonies and classes connected to Asian arts and culture.
