Forwarded for Boyle Heights Community Partners
July 15, 2025
With strong resolve and lasting hope, we share an important update about our 4th Annual Nikkei Celebration in Boyle Heights.
For the past three years, Council District 14 has been a vital supporter in helping bring this celebration to life. Although this year’s budget constraints prevent them from funding our event, we remain deeply grateful for their past support and the partnership we’ve built.
We also recognize the challenges our community is currently facing. The ongoing immigration sweeps by ICE and the Department of Homeland Security, along with widespread protests across Los Angeles, including in Boyle Heights, have created an atmosphere of uncertainty and concern.
Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our attendees, participants, and neighbors. In light of this, we have made the difficult decision not to move forward with this year’s event as originally planned.
Yet through it all, our vision stands firm.
We are more committed than ever to honoring the cultural legacy and resilient spirit of Boyle Heights’ history. The strength we’ve built together over the past few years—through shared stories, celebrations, and dedication—has only strengthened our sense of purpose. We are truly grateful for your unwavering support.
Your trust in our mission and your partnership continue to inspire us. Although this year brings unforeseen challenges, it also renews our energy. We remain committed to our roots, our community, and our shared future. Together, we will move forward with optimism, unity, and the unwavering belief that brighter days are ahead.
The journey may be tough, but with your continued support, our community will thrive.
We’re not just delaying a celebration—we’re reaffirming our commitment to return stronger.
