GLENDALE, CA – The Friends of Shoseian invite the community to Shoseian Teahouse at the Brand Park for the inaugural event of the year: the Samurai Film Festival. This unique celebration of classic Japanese cinema will take place on January 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM at Shoseian Teahouse in the scenic Brand Park – Friendship Garden, located at 1601 W. Mountain Street, Glendale, CA 91201.
The festival promises an immersive journey through the world of legendary samurai, featuring three iconic films:
- 10:00 – 11:30 AM: Samurai III – Duel at Ganryu Island
Witness the epic final duel between Miyamoto Musashi and his arch rival Sasaki Kojuro on a remote island. - 12:00 – 1:30 PM: Tale of Zatoichi – The Blind Swordsman
Follow Zatoichi, the blind swordsman and masseuse, as he faces formidable adversaries during his travels. - 2:00 – 3:30 PM: Lone Wolf and Cub – Sword of Vengeance
Discover the story of a Ronin and his young child as they wander the Japanese countryside, encountering adventure and danger at every turn.
