Little Tokyo, Los Angeles — Los Angeles Koyasan Buddhist Temple will hold a special Shichi-Go-San Blessing Ceremony on Sunday, November 15, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony celebrates the healthy growth and well-being of children and is open to families by advance reservation.
Shichi-Go-San is a traditional Japanese celebration marking important milestones in children’s lives. Girls traditionally celebrate at ages 3 and 7, while boys celebrate at ages 3 and 5. Families give thanks for their children’s growth and pray for their continued health and happiness. Children of all ages are welcome to participate.
Each child registered in advance will receive an omamori (protective amulet) and Chitose Ame, a traditional Japanese long-life candy, after the blessing. Toyo Miyatake Studio will also be available for commemorative photographs, and kimono dressing services can be introduced upon request.
