Bonds Across the Ocean / Sending Our Thoughts to Kumamoto
In response to the Kumamoto earthquake that struck in July 2026, the Nanka Kumamoto Kenjinkai (Southern California Kumamoto Prefectural Association) and Mikaela Kai Flamenco held a charity concert in Los Angeles in August 2026.
We raised funds from event proceeds and generous donations, as well as the full proceeds (approximately $2,000) from a charity booth independently run by high school students from Texas (the James E. Taylor High School’s Japan Culture Club) at the Houston Japan Festival.
As a result, a total of $25,000 (approximately 4 million yen) was successfully donated to Hikawa Town in Kumamoto Prefecture, which suffered extensive damage. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed. ARIGATO GOZAIMASHITA!!
