Gallery Course: Japanese Zen Painting

LACMA educator Kristin Bengtson will lecture about an inside look at Japanese Zen painting.

Learn about the most influential Zen artist of the Edo period Hakuin Ekaku (1685-1768) and discover how he invented a new visual language for his religion.

The session begins with a slide lecture followed by a private gallery tour of the exhibition The Sound of One Hand: Paintings and Calligraphy by Zen Master Hakuin.
