2013 / Meet and Greet Reception with two Japanese Diet Members, Sept 9, 6:00 pm

U.S.-Japan Council, Japan America Society of Southern California, and Japan Business Association of Southern California invite the public to a Meet and Greet Reception with Japanese Diet Members, Taro Kono and Seiji Kihara on Monday, September 9, from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at Japanese American Cultural & Community Center, Garden Room, 244 South San Pedro Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012

Taro Kono is a fifth-term member and Seiji Kihara is a second-term member of Japan’s House of Representatives.

Both are members of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), which has a two-thirds majority in the lower house.

With the LDP’s sweeping victory in this July’s upper house election, what does this new majority mean for the Prime Minister’s “Abe-nomics” plan to revive Japan’s economy?

Or the possible changing the post-war constitution laid down by America in 1946?

What will be the impact on the U.S.-Japan relationship?

Cost: $25 – JAS, JBA, USJC Members, $35 – Non-members and guests.
