Event Name: Teen Game Nights! (NEW!)

Date/Time:  Every Tues & Thurs, 4:00-6:00 pm

Description: Join us for some great Xbox One action featuring Halo 5. You are welcome to bring additional Xbox One disks to play. We also have the following board games: Risk, Sorry, Battleship, Uno, Chess, Monopoly, and Stratego. Tell your friends!


Event Name: Black History Month Celebrates Bronzeville

Date/Time: Sat, 2/13  – 1:00-2:30 pm

Description: Join us for a presentation on Bronzeville.  Bronzeville was a community that came into being in Little Tokyo when Japanese-Americans were forced to move to internment camps.  Many African-Americans rented out the abandoned houses and transformed the area into a jazz culture during the war.  CeCe Antoinette will perform, playwrights will discuss their writing process, Chazz will supply the rhythm with a drum circle, and we’ll have some fabulous food: rib tips from Big Mama’s with salad and other fixin’s!  Fun kids African drum craft as well!

Description: Learn about better ways to manager your finances through this programming which have been developed through the FDIC.  This month’s module: Charge it Right!  Learn how to maximize the use of your credit and credit card use!


Event Name: Anime Club – Otaku Path!

Date/Time: Sat, 2/13 – 2:30-5:30

Description: Otaku path is an anime club dedicated to expanding the awareness and appreciation of Japanese animation and culture. It’s all about anime, manga, art, craft, cosplay, games, learning Japanese and most importantly getting together and having a lot of fun


Event Name: Tochi Tales – Black History Month Storytime

Date/Time: Wed, 2/10 – 10:30-11:30 am

Description: Our special guests, Jayon and Jon, have planned a storytelling performance full of music, culture, laughs, puppets, language and more.  Loads of learning and fun… a must see!


Event Name: Origami for Teens & Young at Heart

Date/Time:  Thurs, 2/4 – 4:00-5:00 pm

Description: Join us for a workshop to make origami. Participants will learn about the history of this craft and then make their own origami creations! All supplies will be provided.


Event Name: Mardi Gras Masks for Teens & Young at Heart

Date/Time:  Thurs, 2/4 – 4:00-5:00 pm

Description: The season of Lent is coming with fasting and contrition – but before it comes, it’s party time!  Make a Mardi Gras Mask with us and have some fun!  We’ll supply the materials needed, so just come and enjoy.

Description: Children, parents, and caregivers, please join us for our fun-filled Japanese storytime with our STAR volunteer readers! Geared for families and children of all ages!


Event Name: Children’s Storytime

Date/Time:  Wed, 2/3, 2/10, 2/17, 2/24 – 10:30-11:00 am

Description: Children, parents, and caregivers, join us for our preschool Storytime filled with songs, finger plays, and stories!  This program is intended for children ages 2-5 years old and is subject to cancellation without prior notice.


Event Name:  Computer Class

Date/Time: Tue, 2/2 – 4:00-5:00 pm

Description: Small group computer basics workshop. How to set-up & use e-mail, social media, and search; how to download e-books; how to read magazines and newspapers using our databases.  Themes change depending on the needs of those taking the workshop.  Instructions available in English or Japanese.

Description: Practice your English conversational skills on Tuesdays from 1:30-2:30 pm.

Description: Chill out with a hot film at the Little Tokyo Library every Friday from 2:00-4:00 pm.


Event Name: Friends of Little Tokyo Branch Quilters

Date/Time: Fri, 2/12 & 2/26 – 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Description: The Friends of the Little Tokyo Branch Quilters meet on the second and fourth Friday of each month.  The beautiful quilts they make are auctioned off each summer to support the needs of the Little Tokyo Branch Library.  Sponsored by the Friends of Little Tokyo Branch Library.
