Holiday Tea & Japan Culture Day
December 16th, 2018

This year’s annual Holiday Tea and Japan Culture Day at the Shoseian Tea House will feature a very special guest from Japan.  Zen Master Enko Sakai will share with us his insights on how zen meditation can improve your daily life experiences. Come say hello to him and enjoy all of the other great events  on Sunday, December 16.

Please RSVP for one of the two tea ceremonies at 12:45 pm and 2:45 pm. RSVP’s should be sent to friends@shoseianteahouse.com, indicating the tea seating you prefer, and the names of all of the guests in your party. There is limited seating for the tea ceremonies, with a $20 per person donation requested.

All other events are free, except for food purchases from the Okamoto Food Truck and the Japanese snacks that the Friends of Shoseian will have available.

12:00 – 12:30 pm  – Opening Koto Performance by Saeko Kujiraoka

12:30 – 12:45 pm – Awa Odori Dancing by Terumi

12:45 – 1:30 pm – Zen Meditation Experience with Enko Sasaki, the head priest of Myojoin Temple in Japan. He has been chosen as one one “100 Next-Era Leaders in Asia 2015-2018” by The Japan Times. He acquired specialist knowledge and skills in Reiki, Qigong, yoga, meditation and energy work. With these qualifications, skills and knowledge, he has been giving people some ideas how to live or how to think in such a stressful society and encouraging them to create a new path to their future.

1:30 – 2:00 pm – Martial Arts Demonstration

2:00 – 2:30 pm – Taiko Kids by Verdugo Woodlands Elementary

2:30 – 2:45 pm – Akita Angels Dog Walk

2:45 – 3:30 pm – Urasenke Tea Ceremony: 2nd Seating by Nakada Shachu
