Shizuoka Tea Study Program provides opportunities of in-depth and hands-on experiences for aspiring tea people around world

The Shizuoka Prefectural Government is providing the Shizuoka Tea Study Program for aspiring tea people around the world from October – December 2019.

In order to promote Japanese tea to the U.S. and Europe, the Shizuoka Tea Study Program is designed for tea business operators and social influencers to gain an in-depth, hands-on experiences of every step of the tea-making process, from harvesting leaves to producing tea.

In cooperation with the Shizuoka Prefectural Government, 8 companies in tea business in Shizuoka Prefecture are hosting programs at their venues. Participation fee, accommodation fee, and duration of programs are varying on venues and programs.

Program excerpts: Osada Seicha Co. Ltd. provides an all processes of tea production experience for 30 days; Maruyama Tea Products Corporation teaches basics and the flow of Japanese tea for 5 days; Sanwa Co., Ltd. explains basics of tea production for 5 days; Marumatsu Tea Co., Ltd. hosts a preparing Japanese tea course for 2 weeks;  Matcha Organic Japan Co., Ltd. provides basics of Japanese tea and a opportunity to serve customers for 5 days; Kanei Hitokoto Seicha, Inc. explains basics of Japanese tea and overseas market circumstances for 6 days; Marufuku Seicha Co., Ltd. emphasizes roasting, blending, and making hojicha in a week course; Kawabata Tea Farm gives 7 days course including work in tea field.

Eligibility of participants are non-Japanese tea business operators of persona who wish to start a business of Japanese-tea, non-Japanese tea aficionados with social influence, blogger enthusiastic about writing informational posts on Japanese-tea.
