The public is warmly invited to a rare, cultural and learning event: Akiko Fujimoto Workshop Concert with Naoko, on Friday, April 25, 2025, beginning at 3:00 PM at Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin of Los Angeles (342 E. 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012). Admission is free(donations welcome), and all ages are invited.
World-renowned Jiuta shamisen master Akiko Fujimoto will perform with shamisen and voice from Japan’s Edo period (1603–1868) through traditional music passed down from her grandmother Abe Keiko and her mother, Living National Treasure Fujii Kunie. Fresh from the World Shakuhachi Festival 2025 in Texas, Fujimoto will perform pieces such as Rokudan, Kurokami, and Zangetsu, joined by NorCal-based shanisen and koto artist Naoko.
