LOS ANGELES, CA – LA’s 33 Strings and LA Artcore will present Akiko Fujimoto Workshop/ Concert at LA Artcore, 120 Judge John Aiso Street, Unit A, Los Angeles, CA 90012, on April 26, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m..
In their first collaborative event, LA’s 33 Strings and LA Artcore will be joining their efforts to bring to you a special workshop and concert led by world renowned Jiuta shamisen artist – Akiko Fujimoto.
Fresh off her special guest appearance at the World Shakuhachi Festival, Akiko Fujimoto makes her way to Los Angeles to lead a workshop for those who wish to learn and/or improve their shamisen skills.
Following the workshop, Akiko Fujimoto will be joined by shamisen artist Naoko and well-known local traditional and contemporary koto artist Kozue Matsumoto for special performances.

This performance is part of an ongoing effort to promote and introduce cross-cultural appreciation of the arts through traditional Japanese music.
About the Artist:
Akiko Fujimoto was taught by her grandmother Keiko Abe and her mother Kunie Fujii, who was designated in 2002 as a Living National Treasure in Japan. She has received numerous awards and has held workshops around the world.
Her accolades include the Japan Traditional Culture Foundation Award, Grand Prize for Music at the 2020 Arts Festival (sponsored by the Agency of Cultural Affairs), the Prize for Excellence at the 42nd Matsuo Performing Arts Awards, received the Medal with Purple Ribbon (Shijyu Hoshou) from Naruhito the Emperor of Japan, and much more.
She is currently an instructor at Seiha Conservatory in Tokyo, Japan.
