Traditional Japanese Music 2026 | LA’s 33 Strings Presents Koto, Shamisen, Shakuhachi Workshops | Terasaki Budokan, Little Tokyo | Sunday, September 20, 10AM – 12PM

LOS ANAGELES – LA’s 33 Strings, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and sharing the beauty of Japanese music, announces the second workshop to learn how to play the koto, shamisen, and shakuhachi. The event will be held at Terasaki Budokan (249 S. Los Angeles Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012) on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM.

This special workshop will allow attendees to learn how to play the instruments, learn one song, and receive guidance from a member of LA’s 33 Strings. The instruments will be provided by LA’s 33 Strings. This Workshop is supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Department of Arts and Culture as well as Eastside Arts Initiative and Japan Foundation Los Angeles.

Attendees will enjoy:

  • Hands-on experience and learning the koto, shamisen, or shakuhachi
  • Learn how to play one song
  • One-on-One learning with a member of LA’s 33 Strings
