2011/ Memorial gathering for Japanese painting artist Robert Crowder, Dec 8, 7:00 pm at Shumei Hall
One-year memorial gathering for Japanese painting artist Robert Crowder will be held by the Shumei Arts Council on Thursday, Dec 8 at 7:00 pm at the Shumei Hall in Pasadena.
The program will include a poetry reading by actor and his friend Ms. Barbara Babcock and Ms. Linda Westerschulte in English and Ms. Teruko Kanase in Japanse, and a musical performance by Ms. Ayke Agus and Ms. Prakriti Thompson.
Crowder wrote poetry though his life.
The musical presentation will feature a very special violin made in the late 18th century by Fernando Gagliano that used to be played by Robert Crowder. Music was chosen from concert programs which Robert Crowder performed when he was a student in high school and university.
This memorial gathering is a part of Robert Crowder’s “100 YEARS” exhibition.
“100 YEARS: The Imagination of Robert Crowder, Vralati, and Shoji Kuroda” is held from Nov 13 – Jan 8 at Shumei Hall Gallery, 2430 East Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107.
The gallery is open Monday through Saturday. Closed Sunday, but open by appointment only. www.shumeiarts.org
