The Southern California Japanese American Christian Federation presents 100th anniversary celebration movie event “Blazing Trail to the Souls of Men” (Daichi no uta) on Feb. 16, 23, March 2, 17. Japanese language with English subtitles. Tickets are $10.
The film “Blazing Trail to the Souls of Men” is a true story depicting the life of Kousuke Tomeoka (1864 – 1934), who established Japan’s first juvenile rehabilitation community Katei Gakko in Hokkaido.
This movie is also a history of the Japanese Protestant Christian movement and Japanese Christians instrumental in its growth.
The director of the film Ms. Hisako Yamada, 80-year-old, is continuing to use no fictional elements for producing historical movies of unsung Christian heroes.
