THE GREAT PASSAGE (FUNE WO AMU)

2013, 133min. / Director: Yuya Ishii

In Japanese with English subtitles

Introverted Mitsuya Majime (Ryuhei Matsuda) is a wash-out as a salesman, but with his linguistics degree, he’s the ideal replacement for a departing editor working on a new dictionary entitled The Great Passage.

The project requires years of painstaking work, but Mitsuya is sustained by his love for an aspiring chef (Aoi Miyazaki).

The Great Passage was selected as Japan’s entry for the Best Foreign Language Filmat the 86th Academy Awards.
