2014 / National championships of Kendo to be held in San Diego, June 27-29
The All United States Kendo Federation’s 2014 National Championships will be held in the Harry West Gym of San Diego City College from June 27 – June 29.
For the first time ever, the AUSKF tournament committee has decided to bring the competition to San Diego.
The 2014 AUSKF National Championships allow over 400 gifted athletes to experience kendo competition at its best. The San Diego Sports Commissioner has confirmed his attendance and will extend a welcome speech to guests and competitors.
Spectators, family members and kendo practitioners come together from throughout the United States to celebrate the world of kendo and the many extraordinary athletes, who exhibit the physical agility and mental discipline necessary to compete in this tournament.
Competitors range in age from 12 to 70 and will compete in over 20 different divisions.
“We are very excited to have this event which will host candidates from all across the mainland US,” said Vice President for Competition Tim Yuge. “It is a great way for competitors to showcase their skills and for Kendo enthusiasts to come together.”
The public is invited to attend the tournament free of charge.
The All United States Kendo Federation is a non-profit umbrella organization supporting the 15 regional member federations with over 5,000 members across the country.
The AUSKF is responsible for hosting national tournaments, training a U.S. team for international competition, organizing promotional examination opportunities for higher ranks and interfacing to the International Kendo Federation (FIK).
