Renowned landscape architect – Japanese garden designer Dr. Takeo Uesugi passed away at the age of 75 on Jan. 26.
Dr. Uesugi, professor emeritus of California State Polytechnic University Pomona and Japan’s government medal recipient, had designed and overseen major projects such as Huntington Library’s Japanese Garden renovation project, Japanese Friendship Garden of San Diego, Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden in Pasadena, and James Irvine Japanese Garden of the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center in Los Angeles.

A memorial service for Dr. Uesugi will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10 am at the Tenrikyo Mission Headquarters in America, 2727 East First Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033. Parking is limited.

The funeral of Dr. Takeo Uesugi was held at Tenrikyo Mission Headquarters in America, 2727 East First Street, Los Angeles, on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 10 am to 11:30 am. Over 400 people attended the funeral.
