2018 / Wartime Experience: Manzanar Visitor Center exhibits to close for lighting upgrade, Nov. 5

Beginning Monday, Nov. 5, 2018,  Manzanar’s Visitor Center exhibits will be closed while electricians install new LED fixtures.

The project may take several days to complete.

The bookstore will remain open, and a park ranger will be available to answer questions.

Visitors will still be able to go inside the fire station, mess hall, latrine, and barracks, as well as drive the tour road or explore on foot.

“We know it’s an inconvenience but we’re excited to have new, energy-efficient LED lights in the Visitor Center,” Superintendent Bernadette Johnson said. “Visitors can still experience the driving tour and barracks, including the new classroom exhibits.”

Manzanar is located at 5001 Hwy. 395, six miles south of Independence, California.
