Aurora Foundation’s language teacher scholarship deadline has been extended to January 28, 2011. The original deadline was January 20, 2011.

Japanese Language Scholarship Foundation, aka Aurora Foundation, provides scholarships for teachers of Japanese language every year since 1998.

The year 2011 Japanese Language Teacher Scholarship will able an awardee to carry out a project of their choice in Japan by providing $3,000 and economy class roundtrip air tickets from the US to Japan. Applicants are encouraged to propose any projects they would like to carry out but are currently unable to because of the lack of funding.

Example projects are following: Studying Japanese at pre-existing program, such as the Japan Foundation Japanese Language Institute, or the Hokkaido International Foundation; Traveling around the country to gather authentic materials for teaching purposes, including taking photographs and making films; Visiting schools in Japan to learn more about their education system.

Qualifications are non-native Japanese speaker, non-heritage Japanese speaker, in-service Japanese language teacher in any school level. Graduate student to become a Japanese language teacher in the US and pre-service Japanese language teacher are also qualified.

The selection will be announced by February 28, 2011. Up to two winners will be selected.
