2023: Japanese Language Scholarship – Aurora Foundation announces Takayuki ‘Tak’ Itomi selected as new president of the foundation

The Aurora Foundation, a valued contributor to Japanese language education through scholarships and speech contests, celebrated its 25th anniversary with music programs of pianist Dr. Makiko Hirata and rock’n’roll Yoyoka & Family Band from Hokkaido at the Japanese American National Museum on Oct. 15. Founder and President Dr. Akiko Agishi took the opportunity to announce that she would be passing the torch to new president, Takayuki ‘Tak’ Itomi.

As a keynote speaker, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles Kenko Sone celebrated the foundation and its presidents, wishing them continued success in helping young learners of Japanese achieve their goals.

The Aurora Foundation will feature famous Japanese singer and songwriter Masashi Sada at the 25th Anniversary Aurora Benefit Concert in LA. Mr. Sada will appear at the special farewell reception at the Japan House Los Angeles in Hollywood on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, and perform at the benefit concert at the Aratani Theatre on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024.
