Los Angeles, March 8, 2023 - This Friday, March 10, at 7 pm (Pacific), Shinto Shrine of Shusse Inari in America will hold an Irei-sai (memorial ceremony) 東日本大震災 慰霊祭 for the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in Tōhoku, on our YouTube Channel "ShintoInari."
The ceremony will be in English. We will pray for peace for mitama (spirits) who lost their lives in the tragedy and their families who lost their loved ones.
This year is the 12th anniversary of these tragic events, which occurred on March 11, 2011 (Japan time). In previous years, we have covered current conditions in the disaster area, and various supporting activities, as a closing talk after the ceremonies.
For this year’s closing talk, we will have a special guest from the Miyagi prefecture office to talk about their recovery efforts.
