Hoshi Hana Debuts “Center” at “Measure Twice, Cut Once” Group Show at La Luz de Jesus Gallery, 4633 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles from Nov. 23 – Dec. 1

Hoshi Hana “Center” Mixed media collage, 30.5 x 24.5 in

LOS ANGELES, CA (Nov. 23, 2024) — Los Angeles-based artist Hoshi Hana presents her latest work, Center, as part of the highly anticipated group show Measure Twice, Cut Once at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in East Hollywood.

The exhibition is now on display and will run through December 1, 2024.

Curated by Bernadette McConnell, Measure Twice, Cut Once brings together a diverse group of contemporary collage artists who explore themes of craftsmanship, precision, and the intentionality of the creative process.

Hana’s Center is a standout piece in this exhibition, offering a vibrant and deeply personal exploration of hope, heritage, and transformation.

Center is a mixed-media collage created from found and discarded pieces of paper, which Hana carefully hand-cuts and arranges into an intricate mosaic.

This piece reflects her upbringing in the diverse, culturally rich city of Los Angeles, while drawing from her Japanese heritage.

The work represents a hopeful vision for the future, crafted from fragmented elements that symbolize the power of transformation and renewal.

The collage’s bright colors and layered textures evoke themes of peace, love, and resilience. Through this piece, Hana invites viewers to reflect on the potential for rebuilding and reimagining a world defined by connection and understanding.

Her dual cultural heritage, combined with the eclectic energy of Los Angeles, infuses Center with a narrative of optimism and unity.

“Growing up in Los Angeles, I was exposed to so many different perspectives, voices, and cultures,” Hana explains. “My Japanese background taught me the value of harmony, and I’ve always felt that these concepts are essential for us to move forward in an increasingly divided world. Center is my way of showing that even the most fragmented pieces, when brought together with intention, can create something beautiful and whole.”

Center is a must-see for fans of collage art, as well as anyone who appreciates works that explore universal themes of peace, hope, and resilience.

Hana’s meticulous craftsmanship and the emotional resonance of the piece make it a powerful statement in the context of Measure Twice, Cut Once.

The exhibition is open to the public during La Luz de Jesus Gallery’s regular hours, which are Monday through Saturday, 11 am to 7 pm, and Sunday, 11 am to 6 pm.

Art lovers, collectors, and those passionate about the power of art to foster positive change are invited to visit and experience Hana’s inspiring vision in person.
