Aozora Gakuen

A newly established Kodomo Education Institute announced the opening a Japanese
supplemental school, “Aozora Gakuen” in Torrance, Los Angeles area in February 2025, and is currently accepting applications.

To meet the diverse needs of an increasingly cultural diversity, the school aims to leverage the strengths of traditional Japanese educational principles, while fostering a wide variety of children’s skills and capabilities including entrepreneurial sprits, critical thinking mindset, and hand-on skills under the concept of "Think and Try."

The school’s educational strategy is designed to offer students hands-on and inquiry-based learning that encourages leaners to ask questions, conduct research, and explore new ideas, turning knowledge into action.

Having spent many years in the education field, Ms. Maromi Tasaki, president and principal of Kodomo Education Institute, strongly recognizes the importance of nurturing students’ cultural diversity skills and mindset to navigate a fast-changing world.

It is critical to foster their flexible thinking and actionable insight with broader perspectives, rather than focus narrowly on one matter. By incorporating the idea into the new educational methods based on Ms. Tasaki’s experiences and accomplishments, the school turns a vision into tangible and materialized outcomes.

Currently, every Sunday, Aozora Gakuen provides students with hand-on activity classes through collaboration with a wide range of local firms to organize and assist in its programs, developing and enhancing entrepreneurship spirit.

In addition to these activities will be integrated into its After-school and supplemental Saturday school curriculum. On Saturdays, the school plans to offer traditional Japanese language and math classes using textbooks.
From February 2025, weekdays programs for 1st – 6th grades will be kicked off, emphasizing additional learning opportunities for student follow-up and homework assistances. Aozora Gakuen will open Saturdays supplemental school for 1st and 2nd grades in April 2025.
