The Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Southern California has raised $440,000 for the Japan Disaster Fund. On May 12, Mr. Toshio Handa, President of the JCCSC and the JCC Foundation, accompanied by Japanese community leaders, delivered $440,000 to Ms. Ann Kelly Director of UNICEF LA Office for the Japan Disaster Fund.
The Japanese Chamber of Commerce Foundation established the Japan Disaster Fund in cooperation with UNICEF immediately following the tragic disaster in Japan on March 11.
Since then more than 70 organizations including community groups, local small businesses and corporations and individuals joined forces with the JCCF/UNICEF-Japan Disaster Fund to raise money.
The JCCF will continue to accept donations for the UNICEF-Japan Disaster Fund.
The JCCF would establish the “JCCF-Japan Disaster Relief Fund” for long term help of the victims resulting from the disaster in Japan.
