Makoto Taiko

Makoto Taiko of Pasadena will present their annual taiko drumming performance, featuring world renowned taiko drummer Koji Nakamura and Yukiko Matsuyama, contributed koto musician to a Grammy Award album this year.

This concert will be held on June 25, at 6 pm at Thorne Hall of Occidental College, 1600 Campus Road, Los Angeles, CA 90041.

Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated for the repair of several taiko drums.

This concert will feature the world premiere of a new taiko piece, “Revelation”, composed by Koji Nakamura.

Makoto Taiko was founded in 1999 and continues to expand in number with members from all over the Los Angeles area.

The group has performed at many events and venues throughout the Unites States including the Prayer Vigil in Washington D.C., the Catskill Mountain Culture Festival in New York, the Residence of the Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles, the Cathedral of the Lady of Angels in Los Angeles and more.

Makoto Taiko is based in Pasadena, CA, and performs under the instruction of Koji Nakamura, 2007 Grammy Award-winner as a participating artist in Paul Winter's collaborative CD album, "Crestone".
