This Sunday, Sept. 21, the Koyasan Buddhist Temple will hold the “Autumn Higan Memorial Service,” starting at 1:30 p.m. This service will be open to the public.
This year’s Higan service is especially significant, as it will be the final memorial service conducted by Bishop Emeritus Taisen Miyata. Since coming to the United States in 1959, he has faithfully served as a Buddhist priest for 69 years. He will be returning to Japan this winter.
