Torrance, CA — Tulips in Harmony, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering community welfare and cultural exchange through music and the arts, is thrilled to announce its Season Opening Concert at Salvation Army Torrance Cord, 4223 Emerald Street, Torrance, CA 90503, on Sunday, November 23 at 4:00 PM.
Founded in the wake of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, Tulips in Harmony has become a beacon for artistic collaboration and community spirit. This year’s concert promises an extraordinary evening, uniting four distinct musical genres on a single stage—a rare opportunity for audiences to experience a rich tapestry of artistic expression.
Concert Highlights:
- “The Nutcracker” Collaboration: Enjoy a unique performance by a Ballet Company, taught in Japanese, dances to live music by talented local musicians.
- String Quartet Performance: Delight in both beloved classical favorites and innovative new works performed by a skilled string quartet.
- Young Musical Prodigies: Be amazed by Landon and Aaron, two remarkable 13-year-old composers and pianists from the Yamaha Music School of South Bay Torrance. Landon is a two-time world champion in the Yamaha Junior Original Concert global program (2022 & 2023), while Aaron is set to perform on a Korea tour next year.
- Traditional Japanese Dance & Music: Experience the artistry of new members of the Matsutoyo-kai, featuring traditional Japanese dance, singing, and shamisen. This performance offers a cultural bridge between East and West, showcasing Japanese music from the same era as The Nutcracker.
