LOS ANGELES, CA — Team Kawachi Ondo, the renowned Japanese Bon Dance music group based in Los Angeles, will make its sixth appearance at the annual Oshogatsu New Year’s celebration in Little Tokyo on January 1, 2026.
The group will perform at two locations: Weller Court stage at 2:30 p.m. and Japanese Village Plaza stage at 3:15 p.m., bringing the vibrant spirit of Japanese New Year traditions to the heart of Los Angeles.
Audiences are invited to join in the festive dance, as Team Kawachi Ondo honors the rich heritage of Bon Odori and welcomes the community to participate in the celebration.
The Oshogatsu program will also feature performances by Minyo Group Matsutoyo-Kai, a kimono show by LA Kimono Club, calligraphy demonstrations, and the traditional Mochi Maki, offering a full afternoon of cultural experiences.
Team Kawachi Ondo is comprised of Shinichi Hirokawa, Karin Noriko Yonami, Maaya Ota, Mama Kay, Yoshi Okita, Nobuki Hanai, and Masayo Benoist, with support from Yuki Suda, Akemi Davenport, Atsuko Toba, Masa Endo, and DJ Yui Yamamoto.
